SchoolCare was founded in 1995 as the New Hampshire School Health Care Coalition by bringing together associations representing public entity management and labor groups in the state. The Coalition was formed in response to issues of providing employee health care, including quality, choice, cost control and service that public entities were facing. Today, over twenty-five years later, SchoolCare is still a well-regarded resource for public entities facing these same issues.

Well-Being Recharge 2025
Make Your Preventive Care a Priority for Optimal Health
Published February 5, 2025
Thank you for participating in the 2025 Well-Being Recharge. If you would like to participate in this week’s raffle, the entry form is linked at the end of the article. This week 15 participants will receive a $100 gift card for wellness gear, groceries, personal care items and more!
Busy schedules, financial constraints, medical anxiety, and limited access to care often lead people to prioritize other tasks over routine check-ups with their doctor. However, when people engage in regular preventive care, they often find that catching health issues early leads to better outcomes, less complicated and lower-cost treatments down the line.
Last year, 58% of SchoolCare participants had an annual physical or well visit, an increase of 2% over the previous year. Yet, more than 40% of participants missed this important step, which can help detect conditions like diabetes, hypertension, cancer and more.
Recent data from Cigna shows a rise in early-onset cancer cases among SchoolCare participants, particularly those aged 30-39, a group younger than those typically of age for most cancer screenings, which makes meeting with a provider regularly and discussing any changes in health even more important.
As a SchoolCare/Cigna participant, you have access to preventive care at no cost. You can also earn cash incentives through the Good For You! Well-Being program for taking a proactive approach to your health.
Here’s how you can manage preventive care annually:
See a provider, in-person or online
Keep up with annual checkups and discuss any health concerns, vaccinations, blood work, and cancer screenings with your provider. If you don’t have a primary care provider (PCP), use the FindCare and Costs tool in your myCigna portal to search for one near you.
The provider directory allows you to search by location, read ratings and reviews, sort on doctors accepting new patients and, in some cases, see how quickly you can be seen.
If access to in-person visits is difficult, you can schedule a virtual wellness screening with MDLIVE. Board-certified physicians are available outside of normal office hours, offering a convenient, cost-effective option for preventive care. MDLIVE preventive care appointments are also covered at no cost.
Additionally, MDLIVE provides options for virtual urgent care, behavioral health support and dermatology, with co-pays or co-insurance similar to in office visits, but with the convenience of getting care from home.
Schedule cancer screenings
If you’re due for cancer screenings, talk to your provider about which ones you need based on your age and personal or family history. Early detection through regular screenings can improve treatment outcomes and reduce costs.
Complete your biometric screening
A biometric screening isn’t a substitute for a physical exam but can help identify potential health risks. You can self-register for your appointment ahead of a wellness screening with MDLIVE or get an order from your PCP to complete it as part of your annual physical.
How to earn your Good For You! incentives for preventive care and biometrics
Your annual physical, OB-GYN visit, flu vaccine and preventive cancer screenings are all claims-based goals, meaning once your claim has been processed by Cigna it will trigger your incentive in your myCigna account. This can take up to a few weeks of your appointment. If it hasn’t triggered within a month, contact Cigna at 800-244-6224 to inquire. You can earn $50 for each of these goals, up to four per year.
Your annual eye exam and dental cleaning are also available for incentive, however these are not triggered by a claim. You must log in to self-report completion. Earn $25 each, once per year. You may see any provider in- or out-of-network. You do not need to have a Cigna dental plan to be eligible to self-report your cleaning. Your annual preventive eye exam is covered as part of your Cigna medical benefits.
When ordered by a physician, your screening will automatically trigger your incentive when the claim is processed if completed at a Quest or Labcorp facility. If you receive your screening at another lab location, you may need to have your provider complete a Physician lab form. Follow the instructions at the top of the form to submit for your incentive.
To earn your incentives you must complete your annual online health assessment found in your myCigna portal. Login to myCigna and click on “My health assessment” under the wellness tab to get started. It takes just 10-15 minutes. You must complete it by May 30, 2025, to earn incentives for this plan year.
